Sexy, Sassy, and a Little Naughty!
Did you see the snippet I put on the blog a couple of days ago? Were you able to guess what it was? Well guess no more. The project is complete and through a collaboration by Jenn and I, we created this card with the Sassy Studio Designs "Shady Sassy". The sexy little image is based on the book 50 shades of Grey. The challenge was to create a card using any Sassy (SSD) image using only the shades black, white, and gray. Here's what we came up with.
It doesn't show up great in the photos but I put glossy accents on her shoes and I colored each little tie on the sentiment and also put glossy accents over those to make them stand out a bit. Have you read the book? Do you think this is fitting and does it justice? It's Jen's first attempt and, with my help, I think she did a great job don't you? Leave her some encouragement please so she'll do some more creating. She's so dang talented and I love her so much!
Supplies:
Martha Stewart Designer Paper
Recollections Feathers Paper
Handmade Gray Paper
Black and White laces, and embroidery floss from stash
Beaded trim from Hobby Lobby
Crystal Swirl from Zva Creations
Brads from Michael's
Gray Lace from Pick Your Plum
Chain from a necklace I had
Button covers from Hobby Lobby
I'm entering this into Sassy Studio Designs 50 Shades of Sassy Challenge
Love ya!

Let Them Have Cake!
Yesterday I put together some 4 x 4 birthday cards. I didn't feel like coloring anything. Sometimes I just want to be creative with out the time it takes to color an image, don't you? I used some printed paper to make layers of cake and then embellished with pearls or rhinestones. Voila, a quick and easy card in about 20 minutes.
A girly pink, a little more masculine mint and brown, and an in between blue.
For the blue one, I added a flower I made out of pop tabs and then placed a rose in the center. Something different and I recycled!
The inside of each looks about the same so I only took the one picture. Imagine the appropriate colors with the little edging top for each.
Here are some closeups of each

On the Fifth Day of Thanksgving Recipes...
We're making Raspberry Vinaigrette as promised!
This is great on any salad if you like vinaigrette. Not a big fan of raspberries? Try strawberries, orange, or cranberries in it instead. I happen to love raspberries so it's my favorite combination. It's quick and easy to make but give yourself at least an hour so it can sit and the flavors can mingle.
See you tomorrow!

Shirt Stealer Walk of Shame!
Jen came in about 15 minutes ago. She was looking for her shirt that she had folded and set on the coffee table in the living room while she was watching TV earlier. I had been in my office working on tomorrows blogs from the time she left until she came back, a total of about 40 minutes. The shirt was missing, she pointedly said "Mom, where's my pink shirt?" The way she said it makes me believe she already knew but was hoping I picked it up. I answered that I didn't even know she had left a shirt out there. She searched and found it in the side yard where the dogs have open access from the house to their penned area. She came in crying, it was her favorite shirt and Delilah, whom I introduced you to a few posts back, had dragged it out there and chewed on it. She's still a puppy and I'm still trying to break her of the chewing things. 9 million pairs of shoes later, she took the shirt. She's never taken clothing before but I guess she figured if she can't have shoes then maybe this was up for grabs!
When Jen finally calmed down and I had punished Delilah sufficiently to my mind, she decided Delilah needed a bit more discipline.

So Delilah had her walk of shame. Will it do any good?
When it was all over Jen and I were laughing so hard. Delilah looked so cute we couldn't stay mad at her! She's so sweet...

What Gives With All The Anniversary Cards?
I thought you might like to see what started all the anniversary cards I've been making per my mom's request. In August, my parents celebrated 60 years of wedded bliss! That's quite an accomplishment in this day and age. They live in a community of retired couples and they celebrate with each couple in a community event once a month. Mom says it's hard to find large milestone anniversary cards and when she finds some she always buys several to have on hand.
When I made their anniversary card I guess she thought it was fabulous because she wanted me to make more and sell them down there where she's at plus have some just for her to give. So that's where the long weeks of anniversary card making began. Here's the card I made for them that started all this.

That's my Mom & Dad's wedding picture, some of my wedding lace, a picture of the Little Brown Church in the Vale where they got married some buttons from my stash, some foil flowers that my daughter made and a ribbon rose that I made.
So that's the story...does that explain all the anniversary cards of late? It's alot easier to make a card specifically for some one you know then generic ones for others. You can be much more creative don't you think? Anyway that's the end of the anniversary saga and I bet you're thinking Thank God!
'Til tomorrow when I have some birthday cards to show you.

On the Fourth Day of Thanksgiving Recipes...
We're making...
I love this salad! It goes great with any meal type and is so easy to make. The hearts of palm, if you've never tried them, add a unique flavor and a tiny bit of crunch. You can add grape tomatoes, croutons, bacon bits, or maybe pine nuts if you like. Be creative with this recipe. You'll love the flavors. Tomorrow I'll give you the recipe for my Raspberry Vinaigrette to go with it.
Enjoy and Ciao!
Love ya,
~Deb~
